LocalePulse / Guides / Google Search Console
Your website is live. Here’s how to open its search dashboard—and understand what Google is telling you.
Your two simple steps
Use these steps once LocalePulse has confirmed your Search Console setup and Owner access are ready.
- Open Google Search Console.Sign in with the Google account you gave us for your website handover.
- Select your website if prompted.Choose the exact website address in your handover email.
Your access is normally available immediately—there’s no invitation to accept. You don’t need to upload files, change DNS or deploy anything. Never share your Google password.
What is Google Search Console?
Google Search Console is Google’s free tool for understanding how your website appears in Google Search. It reports search impressions, clicks and search queries, and helps you check whether Google can discover and index your pages. It measures search visibility; it does not guarantee rankings, enquiries or sales.
You do not pay Google to use Search Console. Website setup or ongoing support may be a separate service. If you are not an existing client with confirmed access, this link alone will not add your website or make you an Owner.
What we handle in an agreed website setup
Where Search Console setup is part of your agreed website work, we confirm your Google-account email, verify the correct website property through our dedicated LocalePulse Google account, submit the sitemap and check that its status shows Success. We then add your account as an Owner and check the role before handover.
We handle the technical steps so you don’t have to work with verification files or website deployments. Scope is agreed in your quote: this guide does not add Search Console work or ongoing SEO to every website package. See our website builds and inclusions for the current offer.
A note on ownership: your Owner role is delegated by LocalePulse, not independent verification. LocalePulse remains a verified owner while its verification token remains on your website. Independent verification and removing our token or access can be handled later through an agreed offboarding plan.
What the search numbers mean
Open Performance to see how your site appears in Google Search. Check the selected date range before comparing figures.
Impressions and clicks
Impressions count appearances of your site’s links in search results under Google’s reporting rules. Clicks count clicks through from those results. Neither is the same as a customer enquiry.
CTR and average position
CTR is clicks divided by impressions. Average position summarises where your site’s top result appeared across recorded impressions—not a fixed ranking everyone sees.
The Queries and Pages views help you see which searches and pages contribute. Some low-volume or sensitive queries are omitted for privacy, so the query table is not a complete list of every search.
A useful first check is to compare two equal date ranges and note which pages gained or lost impressions and clicks. On a new or low-traffic site, small changes can look dramatic; avoid drawing conclusions from a handful of visits.
Search Console vs Google Business Profile
Search Console is about your website’s presence in Google Search. Google Business Profile manages an eligible business’s listing in Search and Maps, including its business details and reviews. Access to one does not automatically give access to the other.
If you have a Business Profile, check that its Website field points to your correct live website address. Search Console does not edit your opening hours or respond to reviews. For review wording, see our guide to replying to Google reviews, with pest-control examples.
No data—or no access?
You can open the property, but charts are empty
Search data takes time to appear, and new sites may have little search activity. Check the date range, filters and website address. Empty charts alone do not mean your access is broken or your site has been penalised.
Your website is missing or access is denied
Check that you are signed in with the exact Google account supplied for handover, rather than another account already open in your browser. If the problem remains, contact us so we can check your email, property and permissions.
URL-prefix properties distinguish HTTPS from HTTP and www from non-www. Use the exact property address we confirmed. If Google shows a different access step, tell us what you see rather than creating another property or waiting for an assumed invitation.
Email hello@localepulse.com with the website address and error wording. Do not send passwords or sign-in codes.
Common questions
- Does a sitemap marked Success mean every page is indexed?
- No. Success means Google processed the sitemap successfully. Google can still choose not to crawl or index individual URLs. A sitemap helps discovery; it does not buy priority or guarantee search placement.
- How long until I see search data?
- Reports have processing delays, and a new site needs time to be discovered and receive search impressions. There is no guaranteed date for data or rankings. If data stays empty, check the property, filters and actual site activity before assuming a fault.
- Do I need to accept an invitation?
- Normally no: once we have confirmed your Owner access is added, sign in and select your website. If Google’s interface presents a different requirement, contact us and we’ll check the specific setup.
- Is Search Console the same as website analytics?
- No. Search Console focuses on Google Search visibility and related technical reports. Website analytics measures activity on your website, depending on its configuration and consent settings. Their totals need not match.
- Will setting this up improve my rankings?
- Setup gives you information and diagnostic tools, not a ranking boost. Useful content, a working site and changes informed by evidence may help over time, but we do not promise rankings, traffic or sales.
