How to reply to pest control Google reviews

LocalePulse / Guides / Pest control review replies

Guide for Australian pest control businesses

Future customers read your replies as much as the stars. Here is a calm, paste-ready way to answer Google reviews without arguing in public or sharing private job details.

Direct answer

Reply as the business: short, specific and polite. Thank positive reviewers for one real detail they mentioned. For mixed or negative reviews, acknowledge the issue, take the conversation offline, and never publish addresses, treatment details or private notes. Do not offer discounts to post, change or remove reviews — Google prohibits incentivised review activity.

Why reply at all?

Owners comparing pest controllers often skim recent reviews and the owner responses underneath. A missing reply on a complaint can look like silence. A defensive reply can look worse. A short, professional reply shows you run the job properly.

This page is about replying. If you need the habit of asking every customer for a review (same request, no incentives), use the LocalePulse guide on getting more Google reviews.

Rules that matter when you reply

  • Reply from the Google Business Profile that owns the listing.
  • Do not argue facts in public or name staff in a blame game.
  • Never publish private customer or property details (address, what was found, payment disputes).
  • Do not offer money, discounts or free treatments to change or remove a review.
  • Invite complex issues to phone or email you actually monitor.

Google’s Maps content policies and the ACCC’s guidance on online reviews both apply to Australian businesses. The points above are practical marketing guidance, not legal advice.

Paste-ready reply patterns

Fill every [bracket]. Keep “Before you send” notes for yourself.

Positive review

Before you send: Keep it short. Name one specific thing they mentioned if it helps — do not invent compliments they did not write.

Thanks [Name]. Glad the [service] in [suburb] sorted the [pest]. If anything comes back, just give us a call. — [Your name], [Business]

Mixed or “nearly perfect” review

Before you send: Acknowledge the praise and the nit. Offer a private follow-up if there is a fixable detail.

Thanks [Name] for the honest feedback. We’re pleased the [service] helped, and we’ve noted your comment about [specific point]. If you’d like us to adjust that next visit, call or email [phone/email] and we’ll lock it in. — [Your name], [Business]

Constructive or negative review

Before you send: Stay calm. Do not argue in public. Invite a private conversation. Only mention a rebook or partial refund if you have already decided you will honour it.

Hi [Name], thank you for telling us. We’re sorry the job didn’t meet your expectations. Please contact us on [phone/email] so we can understand what happened and discuss next steps privately. — [Your name], [Business]

Timing and tone

  1. Reply while the job is still fresh. Within a few days is enough for most positive reviews; prioritise negatives sooner.
  2. Match length to the review. One or two sentences for a simple five-star note; a little more care when someone raises a real issue.
  3. One voice. If several people reply for the business, use the same calm tone and sign-off pattern.
  4. Count for a week. How many new reviews, how many replies sent. Gaps usually mean nobody owns the inbox, not that the wording failed.

What not to do

Do

  • Thank them and be specific
  • Take disputes offline
  • Use the same standards for every customer

Don’t

  • Post job addresses or treatment notes
  • Offer incentives to change a review
  • Promise Map rankings in a reply

FAQ

Should pest control businesses reply to every Google review?
Aim to reply to recent reviews when you can — especially new ones and any that raise a real issue. A short, accurate reply shows you read feedback. You do not need a long essay for every five-star compliment.
How should I reply to a negative pest control Google review?
Stay calm, thank them, acknowledge the concern without arguing in public, invite them to continue privately by phone or email, and never publish private job details, addresses or what was found at the property.
Can I offer a discount to change or remove a Google review?
No. Google treats incentives to post, revise or remove reviews as prohibited fake engagement. Australian Consumer Law also restricts fake or misleading reviews. This is general information, not legal advice.
Where can I get review reply templates written for my pest business?
This guide includes free paste-ready patterns. The LocalePulse Pest Lead Fix Pack (A$39) includes a Google review kit with reply templates written for your business, plus a missed-call kit and Google profile fixes. Paid only if you keep it.
Do review replies improve Google rankings?
LocalePulse does not promise rankings. Clear, professional replies help future readers see how you handle feedback. Where you appear in Maps depends on many factors.
